Should I take Lexapro in the morning or at night?
I just started taking Lexapro. I have not really decided what time to take it at. I have been taking it around 3 or 4pm. Is that not a good time? Should it be only morning or night?

Escitalopram (brand names Lexapro, Cipralex)
is usually given for depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Talk to your doctor before taking any medicine for pain, arthritis, fever, or swelling. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), diclofenac (Voltaren), indomethacin, piroxicam (Feldene), nabumetone (Relafen), etodolac (Lodine), and others. Taking any of these drugs with escitalopram may cause you to bruise or bleed easily.

Lexapro does not provide immediate relief or alleviation and may take some time to reach its full level of effectiveness. Because of this, Lexapro should be taken consistently either in the morning or evening. Some people may experience different side effects from Lexapro, which play a role in the time they take the medication. For example, if they experience insomnia, they would be advised to take it in the morning so as to not interfere with their sleep cycle.

•Escitalopram may be taken with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation

Do NOT suddenly stop taking Escitalopram without your doctor’s approval. Stopping Escitalopram suddenly may cause serious WITHDRAWAL symptoms, including abnormal skin sensations, agitation, anxiety, a state of feeling unwell or unhappy, confusion, dizziness, headache, inability to sleep, irritability, lethargy, nausea, sudden emotional swings, and sweating. If therapy with Escitalopram is to be stopped, your doctor will gradually decrease your dose

When is the best time of the day to take Lexapro?

It does not make a difference when in the day you take Lexapro; it is just important that you take it at the same time each day consistently. The best time of the day to take it is when you are most likely to remember to take it.

“When is the best time to take Lexapro?” You can take this medication anytime during the day. However, if Lexapro makes you drowsy, try taking it before bedtime. If the medication causes insomnia, try taking it in the morning.
