Taking antidepressant and ADHD pills together?
I was diagnosed with ADD about a year ago and I was prescribed to take dextroanphetamin. I take two pills in the morning. This summer my dad became depressed again and everything just seemed to go downhill from there with my family, friends, and school. I took way too many classes this semester and I am stressed. I went to my doctor in September and I told her how I am really stressed out and I cry almost every other day about my dad because he is so depressed and I started crying right in front of her. She told me that I might be depressed and prescribed me antidepressants (sertraline, which is a generic form or zoloft). I didnt take them for a few months until recently when I got so stressed out with everything that I broke down big time in front of my parents and my dad became very anxious which made things worse and I started crying even more. Then my mom pulled me aside and asked me if I was maybe depressed, that is when I told her that in September my doctor did prescribe me antidepressants. My mom told me to start taking them right away. So my question is, is it okay to take my ADHD pills with antidepressants? I started taking them a few days ago and it has made me feel very calm, less worried, my mind dosnt race a million thoughts at once, and I havnt cried since. But the only thing is that I feel like I am tired most of the time and it is very hard for me to wake up in the morning. Has anyone taken ADHD pills and antidepressants at the same time? Please share your story and your experience.

If your doctor prescribed them and she knows what meds you are on then it is probably safe. If you’re not sure then call your doctor and ask.

Call your pharmacy look it up on www.drugs.com if it’s a depressant than taking it with a stimulant might not be so great. I’m not exactly for antidepressants but if you have to well I guess you have to. I think you should know and understand everything your taking. I’m not sure about everything on zoloft as it’s something I haven’t studied before. However, Dextroamphetamine is of cource an Amphetamine. It’s in the same class and Methamphetamine (you may know it simply as Meth) and dose the same thing aswell. I do belive it’s a bit easier on you than Meth however it dose work in the same way and has alot of the same bad effects. I hope you do more study on your meds and the things you ingest. Fairwell and God bless you.

ADD/ADHD drugs are dangerous enough and they may be cause of your symptoms.

Here is a little taste of ADHD drugs like Ritalin
You can find facts about Ritalin in this booklet which is available on-line.
“Even when Ritalin is used as prescription drug, it may have severe side effects including nervousness, insomnia, anorexia (eating disorder), pulse changes, heart problems and weight loss. The manufacturer says it is a drug of dependency.
In June 2005, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a series of public health advisories warning that Ritalin and drugs like it may cause visual hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, psychotic behavior, as well aggression and violence behavior.”
