second-hand smoke is an unlikely cause of a chronic cough response, but if the exposure is significant, then it could potentially lead to a chronic cough. There are several possible causes of a chronic cough, such as asthma, gastroesophageal reflux disease (heartburn), postnasal drip, chronic sinusitis or seasonal allergies and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There are some other rare causes. Medications can also with a chronic cough, especially ACE inhibitors (lisinopril, enalapril, Accupril, etc.) are brought into connection, but I doubt you, since you are on it 17. It is good that you have been evaluated for asthma. I do not know if you have symptoms of other causes, such as heartburn or postnasal drip. See your doctor if you are concerned, so that the cause and appropriate treatment can be determined. Best of luck.
