Lipitor (atorvastatin) and Tricor (fenofibrate) are both anti-lipid-lowering drugs for cholesterol in the body. They belong to different classes and therefore act by different mechanisms. This is not necessarily a duplicate drug therapy. If both statins were as Lipitor, there was no additional effect of under two because the number of receptors in the body is limited. However, this is not the case and it is good to take these two drugs together. It should be a good therapeutic results of this therapy. It is usually not necessary to take two anti-lipids, but sometimes it is the best option for some patients.
